Book Blogger Hop: July 30 - Aug 2, 2010

Book Blogger Hop

It's Friday Blog Hop time... stop into Crazy for Books to see a long list of this weekend's book blogs. Leave a comment to let me know you've visited!

This weeks question:
Who is your favorite new-to-you author so far this year?

Hard one!  Last year I read some fantastic new-to-me authors. This year I've read lots of series and known-to-me authors, so I am going to pick 2 authors from the 19th Century:

Arthur Conan Doyle... For the first time, I am reading  The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (mobi) - the complete collection for Kindle, for only 99 cents!  I've enjoyed it all so far, although taking a short break about half way through this long work!

In the same vein of Victorian writing and mysteries, I loved Wilkie Collins' Woman In White - Amazon have a free version, and this 95 cent version optimized for Kindle. See my previous review.

Let me know if you've just hopped in, or if you're a follower, who is your favorite new-to-you author this year?  I am always looking out for new books to download!

  1. Hi! Here from the Hop. Have a great weekend!

  2. I read Sherlock Holmes for the first time recently as well! I'm hopping on by and I'm following now because I'm interested in e-readers and I'm interested to hear what you have to say about the Kindle! I will be back. Have a great weekend.

  3. Hi, I'm stopping by on the hop. I've read several by Wilkie Collins, and like his novels. My new discovery is David Rhodes...

  4. Thanks for sharing!

Lily - I am a huge Kindle lover. I've just posted about the new version coming out in a few weeks too!

  5. Hey, just stopping by on the hop. I'm pretty similar to you as last year I encountered many new authors... this year I've mostly been trying to read what my old favourites have produced. Hope you're enjoying the very long Sherlock Holmes. Happy Friday! :)

  6. I'm here from the Hop! And I just ordered my NEW Kindle, I can't wait. I have a Kindle 1 and have been waiting for the upgrade. I started reading Sherlock Holmes this year, those are great stories. I also discovered C.S. Harris who writes a good series of historical mysteries.
