I discovered some fun Kindle items on Cafe Press last week and I've shared a couple on my facebook page. I thought I'd share some here too, especially since I just received another free shipping coupon code in my email! (see bottom of the page)
I read a comment from someone saying, why should they advertise Kindle? I thought about that - no-one should; it's more like sharing a love of a hobby; wanting others to enjoy what you enjoy, like wearing a football team jersey! But why not advertise? Doing so is good for us too, not just Amazon!
Take a look at one of the mugs above, aimed at Steve Jobs who, in January 2008, said that people didn't read anymore. From the New York Times, regarding what he thought of Amazon Kindle:
“It doesn’t matter how good or bad the product is, the fact is that people don’t read anymore,” he said. “Forty percent of the people in the U.S. read one book or less last year. The whole conception is flawed at the top because people don’t read anymore.”
HA! or ppffffffttttt as I'd actually say in real life. You see Steve Jobs a.k.a. Mr. Apple changed his tune last year when Apple decided they wanted "in" on the e-book market. Apple effectively pushed the Publishers' Agency Model that we ebook readers all so despise (that bans Amazon from discounting ebooks from certain publishers).
I like to think that advertising Kindles will create more Kindleers, more ebook readers, more ebooks and more ebook authors! The more power the ebook authors and readers have, the less it falls to the monopolists of the world to control the market and pricing. Just sayin' folks.
So on with the goodies! I do not make these products, they are not mine. I have ordered a travel mug but it hasn't arrived yet so I can't vouch for quality or service. Just sharing what I see online! As far as I know, all CafePress designs are sold on the same product: someone creates a design then CafePress applies it to mugs, T-shirts, bags, stickers etc etc.
