Read an ebook Week March 7 to 13, 2010

Well there's a day and a week for everyone and everything! Starting tomorrow is Read an Ebook Week! During the next week, I'll list some of my favorite ebooks to read!

I never could have believed that I'd love ebooks as much as I do. Reading ebooks is as enjoyable as regular DTB (dead tree books) but with the added benefit of search features, multiple bookmarking, dictionary features, annotation features. And the best - being able to download books wherever I am, carry a whole library in  my purse and sometimes, listen as I drive.

And there are literally tens of thousands of free classics available, books like Treasure Island, Sherlock Holmes, Pride and Prejudice that are in the public domain and now available free in ebook format. Not to mention author promos! Amazon has over 20,000 free ebooks right now.

I've tried a couple of ways to read ebooks, and personally my favorite is the Kindle. Of course it is! This blog is dedicated to it.  But there are others out there, and in fact, you don't even need to spend any money on a reader to read ebooks!

Various options out there now....

No software needed

There are authors out there with free or low priced pdf versions of their books that don't need any special software. Just read them on your computer or laptop.

Software options:

Free options: Kindle for PC ~ Kindle for Blackberry

Or if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can download the Kindle app for free.
