Kindle tip: Device versus cloud

Device versus Cloud

All Kindles have 2 views:

1) the device view
This shows items that are downloaded onto the kindle and stored in its memory. You can access these at any time.

2) the cloud view (called archives on older kindles).
This shows items that are stored on the amazon server but not necessarily on your device. You may only access these when you have a wireless connection.
Some kindles show a check mark against the item if its on the device. Others show a down arrow, meaning you can tap to download to your Kindle.

For ereaders, you can sort Device view items into collections. For updated Paperwhites and Touch you can also organize your cloud books into collections. The titles show up in your Device View but are grayed out so you can tell they are only in the cloud.
