Home screens vary a little on the different Fires. All have the revolving carousel of recent covers. But below that, some have a shelf of favorites, others have a star instead - tap the star to see favorites.
*To add a book, app or other link into favorites, tap and hold the cover then select Add to Favorites.
*For those devices with the banner "Customers also bought" (see below), you can turn this off this distraction.
> Go to settings (cog wheel icon at the top)
> under Amazon Applications tap Amazon Home Recommendations
> under content recommendations tap Hide.
